My wife is still making fun of me asking whats the point. Or "dog" or "fish" or a location I have been to. The MS solution also makes the photos searchable by object, geo tags and other meta data if it exists.įor example I can search "book" and it shows me a list of pictures with books in them. I already backup using Carbonite so no need to upload them anywhere. Thanks for the suggestions, but for now I am going to continue with the MS Photo solution since it is built in and doesn't require a 3rd party addition or upload of my photos. its CPU intensive (expected) but seems to work and is built in. So the Microsoft Photos Facial \ Object recognition feature is actually working pretty good. Just not as quickly as I would have liked. I have had it running all night and there are results populating. However it seems like it will take a few weeks to run as it appears to be really slow and like they didn't expect someone to dump as much data into it as I just did.

I did come across a feature in windows 10 last night that does facial recognition on photos stored locally. There are no laws stating I can't store pictures of my kids and family members that I or my wife personally took over the years. If you get the green light, are you willing to teach the system? Do you have enoght security to even hold users biometric data in you system? Firstly, where are you located? There might be laws that prevent you even to store material for so long and face recorgnition is really questionable for most places.
